
Featured Project: Barlarnock
The Challenge
The property, a four-in-a-block style home in Barlarnock, Glasgow, was a family home that had been neglected over time. It was purchased on the open market for £85,000, under its £90,000 Home Report valuation. Its most significant hurdle was its “non-standard construction.”
This was an Atholl Steel house, a type of prefabricated home built in the post-war era to address a housing shortage. Popular as they are, these properties demand extra care because of their steel frames and corrosion risks. We carefully checked everything so we could move forward confidently.

Our Solutions
We went straight to work, completely modernising and enhancing the property. The house was stripped back, and we installed new electrics, windows, doors and flooring throughout.
Both the kitchen and bathroom were fully replaced. The large amount of old wallpaper and the poor condition of the walls required extensive replastering to achieve a clean, modern finish. We also brought the severely overgrown garden under control.
The interior was styled with a Farrow & Ball‑inspired colour palette, giving the home a fresh, sophisticated feel.
the results
We completed the refurbishment in just eight weeks. After the project was finished, we gave a veteran first refusal on the property under our company’s support policy.
The veteran was able to secure the home off-market, at a discount but still above the original Home Report valuation. The legal process took slightly longer than anticipated, but the house was sold within one day of the veteran viewing it.
The final sale price was £143,000, against an original Home Report valuation of £90,000, and it significantly improved the EPC rating. It was a win for all involved, providing a great home close to the city centre, amenities, and schools for a deserving veteran.
